Yesterday Microsoft launched its most powerful games console yet, the Xbox One X, and if by coincidence, Sony’s responded with a new PS4 Pro bundle for those shopping around for a 4K machine.
New PS4 Pro bundle counters Xbox One X launch
The format holder’s latest hardware deal is dubbed the ‘Only on PlayStation’ bundle and features a PS4 Pro console and a whopping five PS4-exclusive titles, including Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Gran Turismo Sport, WipEout Omega Collection, and Horizon Zero Dawn, the latter complete with The Frozen Wilds expansion.
Sony’s slapped a £449.99 price tag on the bundle, which, you’ve guessed it, is the same price that Microsoft is asking for the Xbox One X.
For reference, that’s £100 more than a standard PS4 Pro bundle with one game, so you’re getting plenty of bang for your buck. The Xbox One X also does not feature any games, so it’s even more of at tempting deal for those of you who are in the market for 4K gaming.
Microsoft’s new system was plagued by delivery issues yesterday, with many Amazon UK customers not receiving their machines on day-one, despite having pre-ordered months in advance.
One advantage that the Xbox One X does have over its competitor is the inclusion of a 4K Blu-ray player, although that’s also featured in the less powerful Xbox One S too.
The PS4 Pro was released back in November 2016 and has quickly built up a strong and diverse library of compatible software.
Many companies have patched their titles to support Sony’s high-end machine, offering a wealth of enhanced visual capabilities in the process for those of you who have 4K TVs.
Sony hasn’t released official sales figures for the PS4 Pro, but did comment earlier this year that roughly one in every five PS4s sold have been the Pro version.
