It has been a rough month for our beloved black console on its home turf. Analysts and gamers alike sat idly by and watched both the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii continuously outsell PlayStation 3 week in and week out. Finally, after five weeks of pure disappointment and rock bottom sales, Sony has climbed out of the cellar with the release of LittleBigPlanet.
With weekly sales as low as 5,000 units per week, it started to feel as though the tide was finally turning in Japan. However, in just one week, Sony has almost fully regained the sales differential with Microsoft over the last five weeks by outselling their competitor six to one. We’ve included the numbers below.

The PSP continues to show strong numbers, but the new release of Nintendo’s latest handheld modification put the rest of the field to shame. We’re hoping this positive change in sales trends continues for Sony. We’ll be sure to let you know how next week pans out when those numbers are released.
