Sony has denied that the company will be releasing its forthcoming online service, Home, on October 11th following a slew of Internet speculation.
Rumors of the release date scorched across the Internet late yesterday afternoon, as part of a release list containing PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 2 software.
Following distribution of the news across several well-known websites, a Sony Computer Entertainment UK representative told Gamesindustry.biz: "that’s not an official release schedule. None of the dates on the list have been confirmed at this time."
The spokesperson went on to address the source of the news, adding, "I don’t know where Kotaku have taken them from or why they’re claiming ‘SCEE have clarified dates’ as we haven’t sent them anything, and neither have our Central office."
These comments do not dismiss the notion 100%, but rather suggest damage control. On the other hand with the delay of multiple titles this week, the game industry cannot be sure of anything at this point.
All is not lost though, as the spokesperson concluded, "we will be making more announcements about Home at this year’s Tokyo Game Show."
TGS takes place towards the end of September, so keep a close watch on PSU for news from the expo.
