Sony today announced that it will release the open beta of PlayStation Suite SDK to content developers next month. The official version will release later this year. This will allow a more streamlined content development environment for content developers, including large dev teams and small, independent devs. PlayStation Suite will essentially allow PlayStation store products to operate on portable devices.
Closed beta for PlayStation Suite began November of 2011 to limited content developers in Japan, U.S., and the U.K. Open beta will expand to target countries beyond these three.
Later this year the official version of PlayStation Suite SDK will release at $99 USD and will allow content developers to distribute their content on the PlayStation Store. Sony will add the Suite to Japan, Canada, U.K., France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Australia in a phased rollout.
PlayStation Suite allows for access to PlayStation Store content on PlayStation Certified devices, including Xperia smartphones and Sony Tablets. This will open the PS Store for more digital content across all of Sony’s PlayStation products.
