Sony “fully intends” to incorporate 3D stereoscope support in its PlayStation 3 console in 2009, according to a report filed on website Meant to be Seen.
Essentially, this means that PS3 will be able to put out images that appear to be rendered in full 3D via the use of specialised glasses – think of it as the same concept as watching a 3D movie at your local cinema.
According to MtbS, all that’s needed to implement this functionality is a simple Firmware update, with the feature available to both movies and games. The report also goes on to state that this particular update "may be unique to Sony PS3 versus the other console solutions."
