Sony hiring testers for new gaming machine

Most of you may be able to recall that back-of-the-hand slap Sony delivered to IGN a few weeks back when the media powerhouse revealed that it had inside info regarding the PlayStation Portable 2. While gamers chuckled at this incident and chalked it up as a nice play on Sony’s part, a recent employment opportunity has arisen within Sony that may swing a tad more credibility towards IGN’s side of things. According to GameSpot, Sony’s official Japanese website is hiring individuals to test out a new gaming system.

What sorcery is this, you might ask. Well, considering Sony plans on fulfilling the PlayStation 3’s 10-year life cycle, it’s very doubtful that this is the next installment in the PlayStation home console lineup. Instead, it hints that the PSP2 truly is in development. The job hiring asks for people who are interested to "evaluate/assess" a "new games machine." On top of this, the job listing specifically implies that this new machine is "part of the PlayStation or PSP series and their peripherals."

Before everyone gets giddy, this could also be a tweaked version of the current PSP design, which would inevitably be referred to as the PSP-4000. Still, the slight possibility that this is indeed an opening to test the PSP2 has us excited.
