Sony hopes to sell 16 million PS4 consoles in FY2015

Sony has posted its financial expectations for the PS4 in FY2015, forecasting 16 million sales for its current-generation home console.

The forecast comes on the back of news that Sony’s flagship platform sold 14.8 million units during FY2014, bringing the total number of worldwide sales for the console to 22.3 million.

As previously reported today, the success of PS4 during this period resulted in the format holder posting healthy operating profit for it PlayStation business, following a 19 billion yen loss last year.

PS4 has been supported by a number of first-party titles so far this year, including The Order: 1886 and Bloodborne. However, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which was due to launch in time for the lucrative holiday season, won’t appear until spring 2016.
