A number of users have reported that Sony has started emailing PS4 users suggesting they upgrade to the PS5 for Grand Theft Auto VI, which ties in with Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick stating previous that it would be ramping up marketing for the game around this time.
“Grand Theft Auto VI is on your wishlist,” the email reads. “Get a PlayStation 5 today to be ready for when Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026.”
Sony and Take-Two have of course partnered for GTA VI marketing efforts, with the game’s second trailer clearly stating ‘Captured on PS5′ at the end of the footage. Furthermore, a Bloomberg interview with Zelnick regarding GTA VI’s window of console exclusivity was not related to Take-Two’s marketing deal with Sony.
While we’re talking about Take-Two, it was reported in a Business Insider article last week that the publishing giant has put around $1 billion – $1.5 billion into GTA VI so far.
GTA VI is pencilled in for a November 19, 2026 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
