Sony has announced that a number of PlayStation Vita features will be shuttered in the upcoming months, including the YouTube app and Near.
The format holder confirmed that YouTube is no longer available to download from the PlayStation Store for its handheld gaming device, while support will cease altogether on April 20.
Meanwhile, the Maps app and Near will be shut down in a March Firmware update, with Near made redundant by no longer being able to detect local address or display maps.
Sony did not disclose a reason for the above changes, although PS Vita owners are already up in arms about YouTube’s removal over on Reddit.
It’s worth remembering that you will still be able to view YouTube content via PS Vita’s web browser.
