Sony Is Reportedly Shutting Down PS4 Legacy Services For New Games In Spring 2026

A report on Insider Gaming has claimed that Sony Interactive Entertainment is planning on closing the book on a number of legacy PS4 services in Spring 2026.

That’s according to documentation sent to the site, which reveals the console manufacturer has plans to sunset a number of ‘legacy PSN features’ for its last-generation console. The report states “this means that any new PS4 title submitted after this date will no longer be able to integrate with the following legacy features.”

The document adds that “these services are designed to provide a more unified and scalable foundation across console generations.”

While Sony hasn’t announced anything official regarding the above features, it probably isn’t surprising considering the PS4 is almost 12-years-old now. It was previously confirmed by the format holder that it would be offering fewer PS4 games as part of its monthly PS Plus lineup beginning in early 2026, instead focussing more on PS5 titles.
