Sony Issues Statement On PS5 Release Date For Southeast Asian Countries

The PS5 release date for some Southeast Asia countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, has yet to be announced by Sony, but the format holder has said it will make that official ‘when we are ready.’

Speaking in a statement issued to MP1st, Sony revealed that details about its next-generation console for those territories, including release date and price, are forthcoming but wouldn’t commit to anything else just yet.

We can confirm that the PS5 will also become available in MY/TH/ID/PH/VN and that we are currently in the process of preparation towards the launch. SIES will make announcement on MY/TH/PH/ID/VN release dates and pricing when we are ready. Please keep a lookout for our local announcements on PS5 release in respective countries.

When press further, Sony wouldn’t clarify if this would mean a holiday 2020 release for the console in those regions.

The PS5 is scheduled to ship in the US and Japan on November 12 and in the UK, Europe and other major territories on November 2019.
