The 20th anniversary account for Ape Escape has exploded into action following the New Year, with a new message possibly hinting that a new Ape Escape game could be on the cards. Okay, it’s nothing too exciting, but it definitely gives us hope that the series could make a comeback at some point.

This is far from a confirmation of a new Ape Escape title, but hey, we can dream, right? To be fair, it’s been ages since the series has done anything, with 2011’s PlayStation Move: Ape Escape, which wasn’t technically a proper instalment, either.
Ape Escape launched back in 1999 for the PlayStation, and was one of the first games to utilise the DualShock controller. The sequel followed in 2002 for the PlayStation 2, and Ape Escape 3 arrived in 2005.
In addition, Sony released Ape Escape: On The Loose for the PlayStation Portable in 2005, but other than that, all we’ve seen since then are spin-off titles.
Hopefully Sony will be in the mood to resurrect the brand for the PlayStation 5, eh? We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop on any new details.
