Sony moves focus to PS4 with new 3-year plan

The PlayStation 4 will form a key component in Sony Corporation’s new three-year plan to drive profit within the Tokyo-based electronics giant.

Speaking in a conference to investors this week (as picked up by Reuters), the console maker said it will be trimming production of its flagging smartphone and TV businesses in favor of focusing on the success of PS4.

Sony has predicted massive revenue for its latest home console, although is still hoping the smartphone and TV sector will pull in some much-needed cash, despite forecasting a 30 percent dip sales.

The company is looking to increase sales of its video game division to 1.5 trillion yen, thanks to additional revenue coming from users paying for personalized TV, video, and music distribution services.

PS4 has sold 13.5 million units globally since its launch in November last year.
