Sony offers identity theft protection for European PSN users

While U.S users of the PlayStation Network affected by the recent downtime of the service were offered the opportunity to enrol in an identity protection scheme, European gamers were left wondering whether the same would apply to them.

Now, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed that all PSN and Qriocity customers in the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Germany will receive a 12 month subscription to an Identify Fraud service run by Affinion International Limited. The scheme will provide users with the likes of personal information protection, insurance against identity fraud and givem them use of a dedicated helpline.

You do need to be 18+ to enrol in the service and not everyone will be eligible. The following websites detail the terms and conditions of the Identity Fraud scheme:
