Bungie was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment in July 2022, but despite being part of the PlayStation family the Halo developer would remain an independent subsidiary under Sony in terms of development and publishing, hence not actually a part of PlayStation Studios. However, Tao’s comments indicate this independence is now decreasing, and therefore its integration into PlayStation Studios is now ongoing.

Bungie is currently working on its next major project, Marathon, which was recently delayed out of its original September 2025 release to an as-yet undisclosed date. Beyond that, the studio is continuing to support Destiny 2, which recently received its latest expansion, The Edge of Fate, last month.
