Streaming NHL games are now available on your PlayStation 3 through the just-released NHL GameCenter application, PlayStation Store Manager Grace Chen announced today on the PlayStation Blog.
For $10 USD, hockey fans can purchase the application and gain access to game highlights, schedules, stats, and more. PlayStation Plus subscribers get access to the base application for free. NHL LIVE subscribers ($169 annually) are able to stream full regular season (and select playoff) games in high definition through the application.
"In order to serve our fans, we are continuing to respond to the convergence of technology, media and consumer behavior," commented Perry Cooper, NHL Senior Vice President of Digital Media. "With today’s announcement, we are able to deliver NHL GameCenter LIVE and NHL Vault to an extensive consumer base and significantly broaden the availability of our products to our fans across the world."
NHL GameCenter marks Sony’s second foray into the streaming sports arena, the first being Sony’s MLB.TV application. Eric Lempel, Sony’s VP of Network Operations, created a guided tour of the new application, which we’ve posted below.
