Sony Reveals PS4 Has Shipped 112.3 Million Units Worldwide

The PS4 has shipped a total of 112.3 million units worldwide as of June 30, 2020, Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed.

PS4 Shipments Reach New Milestone

Speaking during its latest financial results overnight, the format holder revealed that PS4 moved 1.9 million units during the three-month period ended June 30, which is down 1.3 million year-on-year. In addition, PlayStation Plus has now amassed 44.9 million subscribers.

Elsewhere, Sony revealed that PS4 game sales hit 91 million during the fourth quarter of FY 2019, which is a major spike from the previous year, where software sales hit 49.8 million.

The PS4 launched in the US and UK in November 2013 and later arrived in Japan the following February. Sony enjoyed a significant lead over the Xbox One after only a few months, with the system quickly establishing itself as a major success.

Sony later released the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro, as well as supporting the console with its own virtual reality gaming headset, PSVR.

The PS5 is due for release this holiday season.
