A new job opening at Sony Santa Monica Studio has heavily indicated that the developer is working on a new God of War title.
As per PlayStation’s greenhouse page, the job listing advertises a Senior Combat Designer position, and carries the following description:
You will assist, collaborate with, and take direction from Lead Combat Designers and Directors as needed to take various characters from concept to implementation completion. You will also work with multiple disciplines including Animation, Level Design, Character Art, Vis Dev, Encounters, etc. in ensuring that characters are cohesively executed in game.

The job description mentions experience “in depth, combat systems, mechanics, and enemies in one or more 3rd person melee action RPGs,” while preferred experience mentions: “Candidates who are fluent with the combat design choices, systems, mechanics, and enemies in God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök (2022).”
Even without the mention of the last few God of War games, the experience and job description definitely fits the description of a God of War tile. As previously reported, the studio is apparently working on such a project, albeit more of a spinoff that takes place in Greece.
Meanwhile, Cory Barlog confirmed Sony Santa Monica Studio is working on a brand new ‘technically ambitious‘ IP, so at the very least we’re getting at least one title from the developer. This does tie in with previous reports that the studio has ‘several unannounced projects‘ in the pipeline.
