Sony says it’s still ‘very excited by the PlayStation 3’

Sony Worldwide Studios big cheese Shuhei Yoshida has laughed off speculation on PlayStation 4, stating the firm is very much still excited by its current home console.

Speaking to the chaps at CVG on the topic of a next-generation PlayStation effort, Yoshida chuckled and replied: "I don’t know what you are talking about."

“We are still very excited by the PlayStation 3,” he added.

Yet more rumors on a successor to the PS3 cropped up this morning, with MCV claiming that the system – as well as Microsoft’s next Xbox console – will be unveiled for the first time at E3 in June.

Sony is currently gearing up for the North American and European launch of PlayStation Vita on February 22.
