Sony has lifted the lid on the Official PlayStation League, a dedicated eSports platform for PlayStation 4 during an event at Santiago Bernabeu yesterday evening.
The service kicks off on October 16 in Spain and will soon expand to Portugal and Italy, with other parts of Europe also likely in the pipeline.
Sony’s eSports platform is described as being for ‘casual and expert’ gamers alike, and will be free to subscribers of PlayStation Plus.
Furthermore, the service will be linked to your PlayStation Account, with matchmaking based on your gaming history. Individual and team prizes will also be offered.
Official PlayStation League will have a season structure to it, with the first running until January 11, 2015. Major third-party support for the league is also promised.
Among the first batch of games to take advantage of the league will be Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, or FIFA 15. Future titles include DRIVECLUB, NBA 2K15, or Invokers Tournament.
