Sony unveils the PS3 in India

Taking the world by storm is Sony’s prime goal with the PlayStation brand. They did it with both the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, so why not with the PlayStation 3 and PSP? If Sony is looking to dominate this generation of gaming, they must look at every market that is suitable to carry such machine, so how does India sound?

In Mumbai, India, Sony Computer Entertainment of India (SCEI) has revealed the all new 40GB PS3 along with the PSP 2000 (also known as PSP-Slim) for the first time in India.  In conjunction with this, Sony brought out variety of titles including the PSP Spider-man and Simpsons specialty pack and three new PS3 games. This all came during the launch of the two-day PlayStation Expo, which launched Saturday.

"Gaming is becoming increasingly accepted form of entertainment amongst Indian consumers and society. We perceive this as an ideal time to expose Indian youth to the complete spread of entertainment that is possible with PlayStation", he said.

People should also know that the PlayStation brand accumulates 60% of the virtual gaming industry market in India; this is according to Jayant Sharma, Milestone Interactive Software chairman. Outside of gaming, India is becoming a huge role-player in the world economy, as well as becoming more and more industrialized. So if Sony can win over India with the PS3, then this could be a great seed for not only the PS3, but future PlayStation products in this region.
