Sony has said it has no intention of slashing the price of PlayStation 4 to counter Microsoft’s recent move with the Xbox One.
Speaking during its latest financial call (via powerupgaming), Kenichiro Yoshida, Sony’s Chief Financial Officer, said that while the format holder is aware of the Xbox One price drop, it wasn’t planning on introducing a similar move for its flagship home console.
Sony has reason to be confident in PS4 though, as the machine has performed considerably well since its launch in November 2013. In fact, during Q3 2014, the console shifted a staggering 6.4 million units worldwide.
The year ahead looks set to be another success too, if the list of PS4-exclusives is anything to go by. February kicks things off with The Order: 1886, followed by Bloodborne in March and rounding out with the likes of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End later in the year.
Apart from that, there’s a wealth of third-party titles too, including Batman: Arkham Knight, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Battlefield Hardline, Assassin’s Creed Victory, and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.
