The Liverpool-based team at Sony XDEV Europe appears to have transitioned to a global outfit, with a recent internal restructuring having repositioned the company so it’s now in charge of worldwide second-party operations for PlayStation.
XDEV Europe had previously collaborated with developers such as Quantic Dream and Housemarque, but had only had input on European outfits.
While there hasn’t been a major announcement from Sony, PlayStation.com and LInkedIn have made alterations that point to a worldwide shift for the company. As it stands, XDEV Europe website hasn’t been updated to reflect this, and hasn’t got listings for the recent SackBoy: A Big Adventure, for example.
Sony’s website now lists it as Sony XDEV with the ‘Europe’ tag removed, and described it as “collaborating with ambitious external studios across the globe.”

It’s worth mentioning that Sony Japan Studio featured its own XDEV initiative, which worked alongside the likes of FromSoftware, who developed the PS4-exclusive Bloodborne.
The newly-globalised XDEV will likely collaborate with any Japanese teams too, as Sony had said that external production roles would be “concentrated within the global functions of PlayStation Studios” following Japan Studio’s closure.
