Ubisoft has announced that the release of South Park: The Fractured But Whole has been delayed until the publisher’s next fiscal year.

South Park The Stick of Truth PS4 sequel delayed

This puts the upcoming comedy action-adventure title out anywhere between April 2017 – March 2018. This isn’t the first time The Fractured But Whole has been delayed either; the game was originally due out on December 6, 2016 before being pushed to an early 2017 window. The reason for the delay was not given.

Elsewhere, Ubisoft said the launch of Watch Dogs 2 was ‘not as dynamic as expected, but momentum now positive.’ In addition, Steep enjoyed a ‘slightly higher-than-expected performance.’

South Park The Fractured But Whole is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed South Park: The Stick of Truth, which was released on PS4, PS3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in March 2014. The sequel was originally known as the Butthole of Time, although creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker were forced to change it after being informed that retailers would not place a product with the words ‘butthole’ on shelves.

The Fractured But Whole takes place following the events of its predecessor, and sees the kids of South Park splintered into two groups of superheroes: Cartman’s group ‘Coon and Friends’ and a rival unit titled Freedom Pals. Players control The New Kid once again, although unlike The Stick of Truth, you now have the ability to pick which gender you’d like.
