We thought we’d seen everything in 2020, but apparently not. Task Purpose has reported that a Space Force member was reprimanded by having his rank taken down a peg after skipping a training class so he could go on the hunt for a PS5 at multiple target stores.
The individual was 30 minute late for a fitness lesson due to his need to secure himself Sony’s next-generation console, and even when he was slapped on the wrist by his superior for being late, he replied: “Yolo, PS5 > letters of discipline.’ For the record, Yolo means ‘you only live once.’

Posting on the Air Force amn/nco/snco Facebook page, the letter of reprimand reads as follows:
You were late to work and insinuated to your supervisor that buying a PlayStation was more important to you than the disciplinary consequences of your actions. Your actions are an extreme deviation from the professionalism expected of you as a member of the armed forces.
As mentioned, the individual in question was demoted, going from Senior Airman to Airman 1st Class on Tuesday. What we don’t know is if he was even successful in his attempts to obtain a PS5.
