Spelunky PS3, PS Vita release date announced

Sony has super-glued a western release date to treasure-seeking romp Spelunky for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

The Derek Yu platform title will launch in the U.S. on August 27, with the PAL version arriving the next day, August 28.

Spelunky will form part of Sony’s cross-buy initiative, so you’ll be able to pick up both versions for just $14.99. What’s more, the PS Vita release supports co-op play without players remaining on the same screen.

The game was originally a PC release back in 2009, with Xbox LIVE Arcade getting the title last summer. The PSN release forms part of Sony’s Summer Select line-up, which gets underway tomorrow with Divekick.
