Splinter Cell Remake Has Reportedly Lost Its Director Again

The Splinter Cell Remake has once again found itself in a spot of bother, with the project reportedly again having lost its director.

As spotted by Tech4 Gamers, a new job listing posted by Ubisoft (which has since been removed) confirms the project is hiring a Game Director, which all but confirms that the previous director (who took over from the original game director, but wasn’t ever named) has jumped ship. The description for the job reads as follows:

As a Game Director on Splinter Cell, you are responsible for moment-to-moment gameplay. How do the gadgets work? How do NPC search when they notice something amiss? How light does the camera need to feel? How much noise does it make when Sam Fisher takes down an enemy? You’ll be helping us execute all of these things. Perhaps more importantly, you’ll be fine tuning the experience when all of those things come together. You’re helping all of the elements resonate at just the right frequency, to ensure a highly polished, hardcore stealth experience that invites players in, and rewards mastery.

Back in October 2022, it was revealed that David Grivel, the original game director on the project, had departed Ubisoft after 11 years working at the company. Fast-forward to October last year, and a report on Insider Gaming stated that the Splinter Cell Remake was being developed on the Snowdrop Engine, with the team looking to release the game in 2026. Given this recent development however, this seems very unlikely.

The Splinter Cell Remake was originally announced in 2021 and has yet to attract a release date.
