BetaDwarf’s Vaultbreakers Has Gained Investment From Square Enix

Square Enix has announced that it has invested in Danish studio BetaDwarf to help out in development of its top-down RPG, Vaultbreakers.

Speaking in a statement this week, Hideaki Uehara, General Manager of Business Development for Square Enix, commented:

Square Enix is always looking for high-quality games and talented development studios. When I played Vaultbreakers, I was genuinely excited by the experience of connecting with other players and exploring its rich game world. After visiting BetaDwarf and learning about the team’s mission and passion, we decided to invest in them to help realize their dream and bring this game to players around the world.

Vaultbreakers has players taking part on compact missions that unfold dynamically based on the actions of you and fellow NPCs. A main focus of the game are the Changelings, which are an evil, chaotic and unpredictable faction with shapeshifting abilities controlled by other players or advanced AI. As such, you will find yourself having to make snap decision that could involve avoiding, attacking or even teaming up with Changelings to achieve your own goals.

BetaDwarf CEO and game director, Steffen Kabbelgaard, commented:

Being accompanied by Square Enix on our journey is an amazing access to a combination of knowledge, talent, and resources. We are already very far with our dream game Vaultbreakers: we have a huge amazing community, and we have already run 15+ tests with more than 50,000 players who constantly enable us to refine.
