Square Enix predicts Dissidia will outsell Crisis Core

As Square Enix prepares to launch Dissidia Final Fantasy in Europe and North America, the company predicts the title will outsell all of the previous Final Fantasy titles on the PSP, including 2008’s Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The prediction is based upon the beat-‘em-up-style game’s warm welcome in Japan.

Square sales director Doug Bone told MCV that in Japan, where RPGs rule the sales charts, Dissidia has outsold Crisis Core even though the game is classified as a beat-‘em-up. He went on to say he believes Dissidia will outsell all previous Final Fantasy games on the PSP in the UK citing higher than expected pre-orders. For those not up-to-speed on the collector’s edition of the title, it will include the game, unique packaging, and a special soundtrack CD, among other perks.

The game features the biggest cast of characters from the Final Fantasy series and features an action-packed fighting system. The game is set to release in Europe on September 4 and in North America on August 25.
