The Final Fantasy brand has been “greatly damaged” following the launch of MMORPG entry Final Fantasy XIV in September 2010, says Yoichi Wada, CEO of Square Enix.
When quizzed about FFXIV during a press conference in Japan today (via Andriasang), Wada simply replied, The Final Fantasy brand has been greatly damaged.”
However, the executive added that the Japanese giant would “continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and we hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released.”
FFXIV, of course, is due out on PlayStation 3 at some point down the line, though it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything on the game.
Stay tuned.
