Star Wars actress being lined up for Tomb Raider movie reboot?

According to a report on Deadline, Daisy Ridley, best known for her starring role in the box office smash, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is being considered to take on the role of Lara Croft in the movie reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise.

The 23-year-old British actress, who was plucked from virtual obscurity for her part in the mammoth science-fiction sequel, is one of a number of actresses being considered for the starring role in the Warner Bros. and MGM Tomb Raider flick.

Conversations regarding Ridley’s potential role in the movie have been ongoing, although it’s still early days at this point and nothing concrete has been announced. However, there’s no denying that Ridley is very much one of the biggest in-demand-actresses of her generation following the success of The Force Awakens.

The Tomb Raider film series launched in 2001 with Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, with Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie filling Croft’s well-used boots. The movie was followed by a 2013 sequel, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Both films were panned by critics, though remain one of the most successful video game to movie adaptations to have emerged, alongside Resident Evil.

While details are sketchy regarding the movie reboot, it is said to take influence from 2013’s Tomb Raider game reboot, which featured an origins story of Lara Croft as she finds herself shipwrecked on a mysterious island.
