The Star Wars Battlefront 2 single-player will take as much as eight hours to finish, according to Motive Studios’ David Robillard.
Speaking with Press Start, Robillard said the campaign lengthy will vary, but should be at least around 5-7 hours in terms of overall length.
“…We thought that around 5-7, maybe 8 hours is probably a good amount of time…we wanted to stay very driven towards the Star Wars fantasy that the players are going to experience and not have it be drawn out.”
Press Start noted that the first three chapters of the campaign encompassed around one and a half hours of gameplay.
Elsewhere, Robillard was quizzed on the prospect of free DLC for the single-player campaign, following DICE’s plans to launch free content for the multiplayer mode.
“We’re not ready to announce anything at this time, we’ll see based on the reception the single player has, if we offer free DLC or not.”
Star Wars Battlefront 2’s campaign is the result of many improvements that DICE and its co-developers are introducing for the sequel. The original game, released in 2015, was heavily criticised for its lack of a proper single-player mode and any core narrative.
The story mode will take place following the death of Emperor Palpatine and the destruction of the Death Star. You can see more of the campaign in action thanks to the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer.
DICE has confirmed that Battlefront 2 will encompass the three core eras of Star Wars: The original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, and the sequel trilogy.
Sony has teamed up with publisher Electronic Arts to launch two new Star Wars Battlefront 2 PS4 hardware bundles to coincide with the game’s release.
