Despite DICE’s community manager stating earlier this month that more Star Wars Battlefront content was incoming, it seems that EA’s Sweden-based studio has changed its mind, now taking to Twitter to confirm that they’ll be no future updates for its sci-fi shooter.
“There are currently no plans to add any new content updates to Star Wars Battlefront,” reads a Tweet from the official EA Star Wars Twitter account.
Though it’s bound to disappoint its 14 million fans, it does make sense considering that its focus is likely now on Star Wars Battlefront 2, which is due for release later this year.
This next title in the Star Wars Battlefront series seems far more ambitious than its predecessor, and will feature a fully-fledged single-player mode, more characters and additional locations and heroes. Online multiplayer will also be enhanced with extra game modes.
It’s still a little unclear though. While DICE’s Community Manager states that more content is coming, the EA Star Wars account says different. PSU has reached out to EA to clarify the situation.
