Star Wars Zero Company Dev Reportedly Had About 80% Of Its Staff Furloughed Weeks Before The Game’s Launch

Star Wars Zero Company developer Bit Reactor reportedly saw about 80% of its staff furloughed just weeks prior to the game’s launch, according to sources speaking with GameFile.

While the game has received critical acclaim following its launch on August 27, 2026, sources claim that the majority of staff had been furloughed by this time (meaning they’ve been removed from the company’s payroll while retaining their employment status). Not only that, but as a result Bit Reactor now only maintains a skeleton crew that are ready to respond to any bug reports with Star Wars Zero Company in wake of its release.

Speaking with GameFile, a representative from Bit Reactor confirmed that many of its staff had been furloughed prior to the launch of the game, but didn’t reveal exactly how many employees had been impacted. The representative added that it was a difficult decision to make, and was made prior to knowing how well Star War Zero Company’s release would go. It was also Bit Reactor’s decision alone, they added.

Set during the twilight years of the Clone Wars, Star Wars Zero Company sees players hopping into the boots of Hawks, an ex-Republic officer tasked with commanding an elite squad of operatives. The campaign will take you across the galaxy as you establish a base of operations and gather intelligence between missions in order to remain one step ahead of your enemy.

Star Wars Zero Company is out now for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
