Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone has confirmed that the farming/life sim will hit PlayStation 4 on December 13.
The game has also been confirmed to launch on Xbox One, while the Nintendo Wii U version has been shelved in favor of bringing the game to the Switch next year. The PS4 version will arrive in Europe on December 14, a day after its U.S. debut.
"I spent over four years developing Stardew Valley, inspired by games that I loved as a child such as Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing," wrote Barone. "Although the idea of a ‘farming RPG’ might have seemed odd at first, the games were very addictive and had a heartwarming charm that stuck with me. With Stardew Valley, my goal was to recreate that special feeling and bring it to modern platforms. Stardew Valley has been a great success on PC, and I am very excited to share it with many new people on Xbox One [and PS4]. I hope you’ll enjoy your time in the valley!"
Developed by ConcernedApe, Stardew Valley was originally released on the PC in February 2016, and garnered a large following among gamers, selling over one million copies to date. The game plucks much of its influence from Harvest Moon, taking the form of a farming sim where gamers must create a character before running a small farm by growing crops and raising numerous livestock.
