Warhawk fans in North America and Europe will be treated to a private beta for Starhawk next month, Lightbox Interactive boss Dylan Jobe has announced.
Gamers will receive “special email invites” containing beta keys, with participants granted access in waves in order to manage the server load.
Writing on the U.S. PlayStation Blog, Jobe commented, “The order in which players are granted access is a dark art known only to Sith-IT-Managers and Gywn, Lord of Cinder,” adding, “but, suffice it to say it’s a mix of your rank/level in Warhawk, your involvement in the Warhawk community, and a few other magical parameters.”
Those of you who have access to the beta will be able to join a secure forum, allowing you to converse with Jobe directly as well as other Lightbox team members. Sony will post dedicated PlayStation Network handles in order to inform beta testers when they are playing online with one of the developers.
Lightbox intends to validate Starhawk’s SkillScore ranking system, weapon balancing and the Build and Battle game balance during the private beta, and a Hot-Fix system has been incorporated to facilitate the process of rolling out daily updates if required.
“We’ll be going into more details on which features will be included in the private beta in the coming weeks, but for now, I hope our Warhawk player community is as excited about this opportunity as we are,” added Jobe.
Elsewhere, Lightbox also confirmed that gamers who participate in the beta will receive a “special gift” when Starhawk hits shelves in 2012.
