Capcom will release Street Fighter 5 in Spring 2016 and plans to launch a beta phase to test cross-platform play.
Street Fighter 5 is a PS4 console exclusive with cross-play enabled with PC gamers. Players can guarantee access to the beta in North America by pre-ordering the game.
The release window was revealed on the Capcom Unity site, where the publisher posted: “Everyone is fired up for Street Fighter V coming to the PS4 and PC next Spring. Until then, you can sport the official SFV key art T-shirt, which features Ryu in a heroic pose, for $25.”
Speaking about Street Fighter 5 late last year, Vice President of Developer and Publisher Relations at SCEA, Adam Boyes, said that its return to PlayStation platforms is like a “homecoming”.
The most recent main Street Fighter title was Street Fighter IV in 2009, which was released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Capcom has said that Street Fighter 5 is not a timed console exclusive, but will only ever appear on PS4. Confirmed characters include Ryu, Chun-Li, Charlie and Bison.
