According to IGN, Capcom plans on releasing five Street Fighter IV costume packs for download over the course of several months. Within these packs are five alternate costumes, each for a different character. Doing the simple math, this works out to 25 total costumes, or one new costume for each character on the roster. It’s no surprise that Capcom plans on taking this direction considering the worldwide success they had with their Street Fighter-themed LittleBigPlanet DLC.
The costume packs are currently going to retail for ¥400, bringing the total for all five packs up to ¥2,000 ($22.38 USD). Thankfully, Capcom does plan to release a "combo pack" of all five downloads later on down the road for a more reasonable ¥1,200 ($13.43 USD). Thus, we suggest waiting until that pack becomes available before making any purchases.
While this may sound like gamers are being manipulated by micro transactions, it’s good to know that Capcom is releasing a free post-release update that will enable gamers to take advantage of a "Championship Mode." This allows high-ranking players to have their replay data uploaded in order for less-skilled players to study it and learn from the best.
Unfortunately, all of this content has only been announced for the Japanese release of the title, but we’re confident that it will make its way over to the other territories soon enough.
