Ghost Of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch has revealed the next game it’s working on, which we all believed to be Ghost Of Tsushima 2.
That’s not precisely what this is, seemingly, as it revealed Ghost Of Yōtei, a game with an entirely new protagonist, Atsu, in the place of Jin Sakai, and this time the story is set not in Tsushima, but Mount Yōtei.
Revealed during the September 2024 State Of Play, it’s an exciting announcement, especially because it seemingly establishes that Sucker Punch could likely keep doing these kinds of games with all different stories across Japan, similar to how the Assassin’s Creed games shuffle from one protagonist to the next.
Along with the reveal trailer we also got a whole lot of gameplay shown, and what’s probably the most exciting thing is that we at least have a release date window for 2025.
Of course it would’ve been good to see Ghost Of Yōtei be a 2024 game instead, but that would mean Sony perpetuating Horizon’s curse of always releasing alongside other big open-world games itself. It’d be funny, sure, but no doubt Herman Hulst wasn’t going to let that happen again.
