Nightdive Studios‘ System Shock Remake is out today on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, and those of you who are picking it up on PlayStation systems will be pleased to know that you’ll get the full experience regardless whether you pick up the disc or digital version.
According to Lance McDonald on X, there’s no day-one patch for System Shock Remake at all; everything is included in your purchase, including the latest title update that adds a bunch of extra content including a new female protagonist. Here’s what he had to say:
Whether you buy the PlayStation version of System Shock on disc or digitally, there is no day-1 patch. The entire game is on the disc, including the latest update that adds a female protagonist and entirely new ending segment.

System Shock Remake takes place on an abandoned space station where players must the malevolent SHODAN, which wish hellbent on destroying humanity. The basic principle remains the same, but Nightdive Studios has completely overhauled the System Shock experience with new high-definition visuals, enhanced controls, a fresh user interface, and remastered sound effects and music.
