Take-Two Boss On GTA VI Delay: ‘The Most Important Thing To Do Is To Support Your Teams’

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, has touched on the recent Grand Theft Auto VI delay, admitting that the requirement for the upcoming crime opus to receive additional polishing “became clear.”

While the executive previously commented earlier this year that he felt very confident GTA VI would meet its original Fall 2025 window, he is fully supportive of Rockstar Games’ desire to meet its creative vision for the project. Here’s what he had to say during a chat with IGN:

As we get closer to completion of a title that’s seeking perfection, the needs or lack thereof, for continued polish become clear. In this case there was an opportunity with a small amount of incremental time, we thought, to make sure Rockstar Games achieves its creative vision with no limitations. And I supported of course that approach.

I feel really good about how Fiscal 26 looks sitting here today. And while of course, delays pain me — how could they not? — the most important thing to do is to support your teams in their search for perfection.

Rockstar Games recently dropped off a new trailer for GTA VI, which offered a better look at one of the game’s protagonists, Jason Duval. In addition, the studio also unboxed a fresh load of screenshots on the game for your viewing pleasure. Grand Theft Auto VI is currently in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and is set to launch on May 26, 2026.
