Take-Two Interactive renews Agent trademark once again

In a case of a video game that just plain refuses to die, publisher Take-Two Interactive has once again – for the third time running – taken the steps to renew the trademark for the ill-fated stealth adventure title, Agent.

Found on GTAForums by user ‘toxluv’, the renewal – filed with The United States Patent and Trademark Office – was placed on June 4, 2015 by Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.  And with reports circulating that developer Rockstar Games was present at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, some of the more ambitious folks of the gaming world hoped that it would mean a reveal of a new title by the Grand Theft Auto developers. Unfortunately, that was not to be.

Initially revealed some six years ago at Sony’s E3 conference, the Rockstar-developed PS3-exclusive  was considered by many to be Sony’s ace-in-the-pack in the console stakes. Cue years of delays, silence and unconfirmed reports of its cancellation – despite former Sony CEO Jack Tretton’s insistence of the opposite – the Cold War-era title is still missing for action.

Will this new renewal breathe new life into the game? Is it in active development with an eye for a reveal at PlayStation Experience in December? One thing’s for sure, with the re-reveal of The Last Guardian at this year’s E3 Sony conference, anything’s possible.

Do you think the Agent’s still in development? Let us know in the comments section below.
