Take-Two offers no update on Agent, XCOM FPS due FY 2014

Take-Two has confirmed that XCOM, the first-person shooter from developer 2K Marin, is still in development and on track for release between April 2013 and March 2014.

Announced back in 2010, the game was originally scheduled for release in 2011 before being shoved back to March 2012. However, it now appears the game won’t arrive until next spring at the earliest.

“2K Marin continues to move forward with the [game’s] development…which is planned for release during fiscal year 2014," said the company.

Elsewhere, Take-Two failed to offer any further updates on Rockstar’s elusive PlayStation 3-exclusive espionage romp Agent, which has been MIA since its E3 2009 reveal.

Quizzed on the title this week, the publisher’s Chairman and CEO, Strauss Zelnick, commented: “We haven’t announced anything about that title.”

Take-Two previously said last year that the game was still in development for Sony’s flagship home console, though wouldn’t be drawn into further comment on the matter.

However, Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), didn’t seem overly confident in regards to Agent’s PS3-exclusivity when quizzed about the game at E3 2011.
