A number of key players at Tango Gameworks have revealed during an interview with IGN that the developer is still considering a sequel to HI-Fi Rush, although the game’s director has said that it wants to ‘cherish’ the IP.
Colin Mack, John Johanas, and Kazuaki Egashira touched base on the company’s future plans, with Mack clarifying that Hi-Fi Rush 2 isn’t actually in development yet, but rather the team is considering its options before pursuing anything.
We are considering a sequel positively. We are not yet at the stage where we can say specifically, ‘This is what we’re going to do.’
Many of our staff have a lot of love for [Hi-Fi Rush], so we feel like we have options. We’re currently at the stage of considering various opportunities.
Hi-Fi Rush became popular as a new IP, but if Hi-Fi Rush were to stay the same forever, it would eventually become outdated. I think Tango Gameworks is about taking on new challenges. I hope to continue to work in a way that puts developers at the center, without losing our passion. Not only me, but many of the development staff have a strong attachment to Hi-Fi Rush. Not only the game but also the characters and the world are beloved by us, so I want to cherish this IP.

Back in October, Krafton, which is the company that now owns Tango after Microsoft shuttered the Evil Within developer earlier this year, said that the developer is hoping to have a potential Hi-Fi Rush 2 offer ‘more of an open-world type of experience.
Hi-Fi Rush was released for the PS5 back in March 2024.
