Tekken 7’s plot thickens with addition of Jun Kazama, due in 2014

The producer behind the long-running Tekken franchise has confirmed the upcoming seventh numbered entry in the beat-’em-up series will be released in 2014.

Katsuhiro Harada (via Gamenguide) wouldn’t give an exact date for the upcoming brawler, which is coming to PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, though at least we know it’ll be out in some shape or form this year.

Elsewhere, Harada-san divulged some information on the game’s Mishima-centric plotline. Apparently, we’ll discover what happened to Kazumi Mishima, Kazuya’s long-deceased mother (or so we thought), who is confirmed to be the mysterious woman in the teaser trailer.

In addition, Jun Kazama, who was thought dead after a confrontation with Ogre prior to the events of 1998’s Tekken 3, is set to return in Tekken 7. While she did show her face in the spin-off game, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, this will be her first canonical appearance since 1996’s Tekken 2.

Tekken 7 will supposedly bring closure to the long-running Mishima family feud, though gameplay details are being kept firmly under wraps at present.
