Tekken 8 Boss Says Team ‘Might’ Consider Free Character DLC

Katsuhiro Harada, Project Chief Director on Tekken 8, has told MP1st that the development team at Bandai Namco Games ‘might’ considering offering character DLC for free, although noted making new characters is among the most costly thing to develop.

When asked if there’s a chance of Tekken 8 receiving free character DLC, Harada-san replied:

Characters are the most costly content to develop, but in terms of potential, we might consider further down the road. Please stay tuned for updates.

Tekken 7 received numerous post-launch characters as part of seasonal updates, including returning fighters Kunimitsu, Ganryu, Armor King, and Craig Marduk. The game also received guest characters such as The Walking Dead’s Negan and Final Fantasy XV’s Noctis.

So far we know that Eddy Gordo will be the first Tekken 8 DLC character as part of its Season 1 roadmap, but beyond that we don’t know what Bandai Namco has in store.

Tekken 8 was released on January 26, 2024 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. You can read our full review here.
