The latest Tekken 8 gameplay trailer has been released by Bandai Namco this afternoon, and it’s Jun Kazama’s turn in the spotlight as she dishes out the pain to Jin and Kazuya in a beautiful-looking new stage.
Jun’s return is a pretty big deal for Tekken fans. She’s only appeared canonically in one game, namely Tekken 2, with Tekken Tag and its sequel being non-canon, so that doesn’t count. Jun is Jin’s mother, having conceived him during the events of Tekken 2 with Kazuya and mysteriously disappeared after Ogre attacked her when Jin was still a teenager.
Fans have speculated for over two decades now if Jun was actually dead or still survived somehow. Some people reckon the severed head Ogre held up in Tekken 3’s arcade intro was Jun’s, while others assumed she was the identity of the mysterious Unknown.
Either way, she’s back, and very much alive! Check out the trailer below.
Tekken 8 is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S with a release date yet to be announced.
