Tekken 8 Is Bringing Back The Fan-Favourite Tekken Ball Mode

Bandai Namco Games has announced on the Japanese PlayStation Blog that Tekken Ball Mode, the fan-favourite minigame that first appeared in Tekken 3’s PSOne conversion, will be returning in Tekken 8.

Tekken Ball looks pretty similar to its original incarnation, albeit obviously benefitting from a massive visual overhaul compared to 25 years ago. Once again, players use their character’s moves to whack a beach ball across the screen with the goal of smacking it into their opponent. The more powerful your attack, the more damage the ball is, increasing your chances of a K.O.

Unlike in Tekken 3 however, this version of Tekken Ball can be played online as well as offline, so you can test your beach ball-smashing skills against other players.

As mentioned, Tekken Ball was introduced in Tekken 3 alongside Tekken Force Mode, although it’s taken until now to bring it back. From the look of things, the Tekken 8 development team are really pulling out all the stop for this latest franchise entry, as we’re getting a Story Mode, Tekken Fight Lounge, Online Ranked Matches, and Customisation, so who knows what else is in store.
