Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced some of the changes that will becoming as part of the Tekken 8 Season 3 balance patch, with Heat Smashes and Power-Up States among the key areas addressed.
Heat Smashes will no longer have the ability to wall-splat, which was specific to character such has Heihachi and Jin, allowing them to follow-up the attack with a wall comb for major damage. This has long been requested by the Tekken 8 community, so it’s good to see that the developer are acting on this for the next season.
Meanwhile, Season 3 will make it so character-specific power-up states will conclude at the same time Heat ends. For example, certain characters had special states, such as Bryan’s Snake Eyes and Claudio’s Starburst, that granted them access to special attacks, many of which were otherwise only accessible in Heat.
The Tekken 8 Season 3 patch is set to arrive on March 17, 2026, and comes off the back of a rough year for the fighting game sequel. Season 2 arrived in April last year, and for many people was a major decline for Tekken 8, as it made sweeping changes to various characters that lead to overpowered attacks and very limited defensive opportunities. While the development team did implement some patches to help reverse some of the more egregious changes, it’s a lengthy process to bring Tekken 8 back to basics, and balance changes were stopped completely during the competitive 2025 season.
