Bandai Namco Games held an extensive showcase for Tekken 8 at the Tokyo Game Show 2023 yesterday, revealing a host of new footage for the upcoming fighting game sequel, as well as diving into various new features including Replay, Super Ghost Battle, and Arcade Quest.
There’s a ton of great footage to see, including a snippet of Story Mode where Kazuya and Jin duke it out in the middle of a war-torn city (presumably New York, as it’s the Urban Square stage), which is preceded by Jin throwing his motorbike at his evil dad’s chopper to get his attention. Kaz shrugs it off, naturally.
One of the most interesting additions is that the Replay allows you to take control of your character for 10 second to see what could have done different, which sounds like it will do well to learn how to defend against characters.
Tekken 8 is scheduled for release on January 26, 2024 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Closed Beta Test due in late October. The game’s storyline picks up around six months after Tekken 7, with the world engulfed in conflict as Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama look to settle their long-running feud following the death of Heihachi Mishima.
